Angkor Wat which literally means ‘City Temple’ is a Hindu temple complex built to replicate the heavens on earth. Constructed for King Suryavarman II in the early twelfth century, it is the best-preserved temple and is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation; first Hindu, dedicated to Vishnu, then Buddhist. The temple is the epitome of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. This magnificent temple combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture; the temple mountain and the later galleried temple, based on early South Indian Hindu architecture.

Today, after breakfast at your hotel, you start on your bicycle to reach the Victory Gate of Angkor Thom ‘Great City’. This will include many of the finest Temples of King Jayavarman VII, who ruled from 1181 to 1220. At the southern gate of Angkor Thom, you will marvel at the imposing 23m (75-foot) high stone faces of Avalokiteshvara, featured in the Tomb Raider movie. These astonishing carvings inspire awe and wonder in all who view them. At the centre of this citadel lies the state temple of Bayon, which we will also visit. This temple-mountain, built at the end of the 12th century, is adorned with hundreds of gigantic stone faces. This tour also includes the Terrace of Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King.

Later in the day you will discover one of the most famous temples – Ta Prohm. It is unforgettable due to the massive trees with thick roots that entangle the walls. They were left here intentionally by the archeologists working on the site. While clearing back the forest it was decided to leave them in place to serve as a reminder of how the original discovers found it and other temples. Many of the trees have grown around and through the remains, and soar high above the temple.

The sunrise you will enjoy by Pre Rup temple and then you will ride back on your bicycle to Siem Reap.

day3 : Siem Reap (B/-/-)

With your driver and your private English speaking tour guide you will go to BengMealea . BengMealea , its name means “lotus pond”, is a temple in the Angkor Wat style located 40 km east of the main group of temples at AngkorCambodia, on the ancient royal highway. When you use the road then BengMealea is located 77km from Siem Reap.

After visiting this jungle temple BengMealea, continue enjoy an excursion to BanteaySrei where was consecrated in 967 A.D, BanteaySrei was speculated to have been known earlier as BanteaySerai, which literally means the Citadel of Victory. This was the only major temple at Angkor not built by a monarch; its construction is credited to a courtier named Yajnavaraha, who was a scholar and philanthropist and a counselor to king Rajendravarman. BanteaySrei is built primarily in red sandstone, a medium that lends itself to the elaborate decorative wall carvings which are still observable in fine details today. Measured by the standards of Angkorian construction, the buildings themselves are miniature in scale. These factors have led to its being widely praised as a ‘precious gem’, or the ‘jewel of Khmer art’ and perhaps the temple’s modern name, BanteaySrei or Citadel of Women, is probably related to the intricacy of the bas relief carvings of devatas found on the walls and the tiny dimensions of the buildings themselves.

On the way you will stop atBanteaySrey Butterfly Centre. Enjoy the small descriptions about the life of a butterfly.

Afternoon you will reach Siem Reap again and create your own souvenir at Ceramic center Khmer Ceramics!
